Description

Kainga is ancient village builder set in a fantasy world full of surprises. Adaptation is key where weather events, massive beasts or other tribes can easily erase you from history. Every time you play, your village's culture, technology, and look will be different depending on your surroundings, environment, climate, altitude and the resources available to you. Design a unique town with every play-through, based on your resources and limitations. Instead of overpowering your obstacles - can you learn to live in harmony with them?

Features

This is a Roguelike Village Builder: death is a permanent and looming threat, but the lessons you learn and the technology you discover may allow your next settlement to succeed.
  • Lively, retro mix of  2D characters and a 3D world.
  • A bizarre and fantastical environment, creatures and ideas.
  • Create a unique culture with every playthrough, adapt to your surroundings, combine technology with unexpected results.
  • A slow, weak "Thinker" discovers new technology and is critical to your village. The Thinker must be protected at all costs, much like a king in chess.
  • Discover new lands, unlock technology, and free more Thinkers to increase the complexity and variety of future runs.

About:

I started developing games in 2016 and  I started making this game seriously in 2019. I wanted to create the game I wanted to play but couldn't find.   A non-linear village builder where your people are your main resource. A game where the culture, look and feel of your town is determined by environmental conditions, so each technological choice is made in response to your surroundings. I wanted to create a system of vernacular architecture, where you watch your culture evolve, and know how it got to this point. Then start over and go in a totally new direction.

I work alone for the most part from my new home in Thailand, and have created nearly all the art, programming, design and ideas on my own.
